If you've spent any time on LinkedIn recently, you'll know that AI is impossible to ignore.

Every day brings a new article, tool, webinar or prediction about how AI will transform the workplace. For people working in employee experience, employee engagement, HR, internal communication and learning and development, it can sometimes feel difficult to separate the genuinely useful from the noise.

The challenge isn't a lack of information. It's knowing where to begin.

Over the past year, we've seen more and more members of The EX Space exploring how AI can support their work. Some are using it to analyse employee feedback. Others are using it to help with communication planning, learning design, research, workshop preparation or content creation.

What's becoming increasingly clear is that the most valuable applications are often the most practical. Rather than replacing expertise, AI is helping people professionals work more efficiently, think more critically and create more time for the work that requires a human touch.

With that in mind, we thought we'd bring together a few resources, ideas and learning opportunities to help you continue your own Human + AI journey.

Resources worth exploring

Human + AI for Employee Experience Toolkit

If you're looking for practical ideas rather than theory, our Human + AI for Employee Experience Toolkit is a great place to start.

Inside you'll find prompts, examples and suggestions for applying AI across different stages of the employee lifecycle. The focus isn't on using AI for the sake of it. It's about exploring where it can genuinely help you work smarter while keeping employee needs firmly at the centre.

Human + AI for Employee Experience webinar

This session explores some of the opportunities and challenges AI presents for people professionals.

We discuss practical use cases, lessons learned and the role human judgement continues to play in creating meaningful employee experiences. Whether you're already experimenting with AI or simply curious about where to start, you'll find plenty of practical ideas to take away.

Behind the Curtain: How Leading IC Teams Are Really Using AI

Although this webinar focuses on internal communication, many of the insights are relevant to anyone working in people-focused roles.

The session explores how practitioners are using AI in the real world, where they're seeing benefits and what they've learned along the way. If you're interested in moving beyond theory and hearing practical examples, it's well worth adding to your watch list.

Four questions we're exploring

One of the things we love most about The EX Space is the willingness of members to share ideas, challenges and lessons learned with one another.

AI feels like one of those topics where collective learning is particularly valuable because none of us have all the answers yet.

As part of our Human + AI Exchange, we're currently exploring four simple questions:

  • Where has AI made the biggest difference to the way you work?
  • What's one lesson you've learned about using AI effectively?
  • What's something AI still can't do as well as humans?
  • What advice would you give to someone just getting started?

The responses we're receiving are already highlighting some fascinating themes and we look forward to sharing those insights back with the community.

What we're hearing so far

While the examples vary, several common themes are beginning to emerge.

Many practitioners are using AI as a research assistant, helping them gather information and explore unfamiliar topics more quickly.

Others are using it as a thinking partner, asking it to challenge assumptions, suggest alternative perspectives or identify gaps in their plans.

Perhaps most importantly, people are discovering that AI tends to work best when combined with strong human judgement. The technology may be able to generate ideas quickly, but deciding which ideas are useful, appropriate and relevant remains a distinctly human skill.

Three practical experiments to try

If you're still figuring out how AI might fit into your work, consider starting with one of these small experiments.

Ask AI to review a communication plan and identify potential gaps or risks.

Use it to summarise a set of employee comments and identify recurring themes.

Challenge it to take an alternative viewpoint and test your assumptions before making a decision.

None of these activities require specialist knowledge or major investment. They're simple ways to begin building confidence and understanding what works for you.

Continue the conversation

The future of work won't be shaped by AI alone. It will be shaped by how people choose to use it.

That's why we're so interested in hearing from practitioners who are experimenting, learning and adapting in real time.

If you have an example, lesson or reflection to share, we'd love to hear from you. And if you're looking for more practical resources, webinars and discussions on Human + AI, keep an eye on The EX Space as we'll be continuing to explore this topic throughout the year.

After all, the most valuable insights rarely come from the technology itself. They come from the people using it.
